Fengyun Geostationary Observation Intensified for Rain Service
Source:Author:     Issued Date:2014-09-28
On user requirement for service in rainy season,  the data transmission of Fengyun geostationary satellite is intensified and the change involves both FY-2D(86.5oE) and FY-2E(105oE) satellites – each satellite to increase transmission for extra 20 images of the northern hemisphere on the basic 28 full-discs of the earth everyday.  From 00:00(UTC) July 11, 2014, the FY-2E satellite (105oE) performs the full-disc observation at each hour time, and the north half-disc observation at each half-hour time (except the observations for wind derivation); the FY-2D satellite (86.5oE) takes the full-disc image at each 15-minute past the hour, and takes the northern half-disc image at each 15-minute to the hour (except the observations for wind derivation).
